Taylor Swift Fans' Favorite Albums
Just months after releasing her latest album, “Folklore,” country-pop superstar Taylor Swift released yet another surprise album this week that the famous artist is calling the sister album to her earlier record from July. “Evermore,” Swift’s ninth studio album, is a continuation on a more folk-like, softer sound when compared to her wildly successful pop albums over the last decade. A new survey shows how most Swift fans are torn on which of the star’s now nine albums are their absolute favorite.
According to a survey conducted by YouGov, Swift’s first massive pop album “Red” from 2012 is her fans’ absolute favorite album. With 15 percent of Swift fans saying it’s their favorite, it narrowly beats out her follow-up “1989” from 2014 with 14 percent, along with her earlier country-pop record “Fearless” in 2008 with 13 percent. “Reputation” from 2017 also garnered 13 percent of fans who said it’s their favorite Swift album, while Folklore (2020), Lover (2019) and the self-titled Taylor Swift (2006) all captured 9 percent.
“Folklore,” released in July, was a big step away from Swift’s mega-pop albums which defined her sound and the musical lives of millions during the 2010s. It focused on a more stripped-down, singer-songwriter production with an emphasis on storytelling – an apt recognition of the difficult times presented with the pandemic-induced lockdowns plaguing many across the world. The album was much more focused on introspection and imagination, and the newest sister album “Evermore” promises to offer a similar sound with a resumption of this stream-of-consciousness, indie theme.
