Thanksgiving
Homemade Pie on Turkey Day
Pie is an absolute necessity for many Thanksgiving feasts, on par with other cherished foods like turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. New survey data shows the majority of Americans prefer featuring a homemade pie as opposed to a store-bought pie for their biggest meal of the year.
A new survey from YouGov shows 69 percent of U.S. respondents who celebrate Thanksgiving said they prefer to craft a homemade pie on Turkey Day. Thirty-seven percent said they make their pie completely from scratch, while 32 percent said they use some store-bought items to create a mostly homemade pie. Another 26 percent said they buy a completely store-bought pie, with a shocking five percent of respondents saying they either don’t know or don’t eat pie on Thanksgiving.
America’s pie production for the upcoming holiday may be more stunted than in previous years, as millions hopefully choose to stay home instead of traveling under COVID-19 pandemic circumstances. With presumably smaller numbers of people at the dinner table this Thanksgiving, pie creation may be sparser than usual as people focus on personal pies for themselves.
