2020 Election

More Trump Supporters Plan to Vote on Election Day

According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, half of the supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump are planning to cast their vote on today’s Election Day while more than 70 percent of Biden supporters were planning to vote early in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

As of November 2, almost 100 million people had already voted – the equivalent of three-quarters of total votes cast in the 2016 election. The high number of early votes might hint at a high turnout among Democrats, but a strong turnout on Election Day – more important for Republicans according to Pew numbers – might still follow.

In the lead-up to the election, Trump had repeatedly cast doubt on early voting mechanisms. While early and absentee voting has become more widespread this year in the light of the coronavirus pandemic, Democrats have generally been more successful at making their supporters turn out early in the past.
