Electronics “Made in Asia”
Electronics “Made in Asia” are as strong as they ever were. The top 8 of the world’s biggest revenue generators are filled with the who-is-who of manufacturers from different parts of the continent. A first non-Asian company – North Carolina manufacturer Honeywell – comes in rank 10 of the biggest electronics and electrical equipment companies in the world, according to the Global Fortune 500 ranking. The highest-ranked European company is Schneider Electric from France in rank 13 - with comparably meager sales of around $30 billion.
Looking at global sales, the South Korean conglomerate Samsung is the largest manufacturer of electrical and electronic devices. The Seoul-based company generated almost $200 billion in revenue in 2019. Samsung’s biggest competitor in the electrical appliances market is Taiwanese Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn Technology Group. The company generated sales of approximately $173 billion that same year.
Traditional manufacturing powerhouses Japan and South Korea still dominate the top spots on the list and they are being joined by two Taiwanese companies. Producers from Mainland China are catching up, however. They are filling three of the remaining four spots of the 15-spot ranking, while exhibiting some of the highest growth rates.
