Americans Expect Mass Protests if Trump Reelected
The presidential election is less than 50 days away, and voters across the U.S. are expecting a close battle despite Democratic candidate Biden leading by a wide margin in most national polls. Still, many Democrats are worried about what a Trump reelection would look like for the country. A new poll from YouGov shows how most voters in the country say it’s likely there will be mass protests if Trump is reelected.
According to a new poll from YouGov, 74 percent of U.S. voters expect there to be mass protests in the country if the president is reelected. While most Democrats have this sentiment, a surprising 73 percent of Republicans also said it's likely there will be mass protests if their candidate wins reelection.
On whether mass protests are likely to occur if Biden wins, just 44 percent of U.S. voters share that sentiment. While 51 percent of Republicans say it’s either very likely or somewhat likely mass protests will occur, just 43 percent of Democrats say the same.
Overall, a staggering amount of U.S. voters believe it’s likely that mass protests and violence will occur in the country if Trump is reelected compared to if Biden wins. However, regardless of the candidate, it is an ominous sign that a majority of Americans expect mass protests to occur regardless of which candidate wins.
