The UK's job retention scheme has paid 80 percent of wages for workers placed on leave since March, providing a vital lifeline to people and companies struggling amid the economic turmoil of Covid-19. There are now signs that the scheme will end in the not so distant future with the share of wages set to decline to 70 percent as the government urges businesses to reopen.
