Life in a Pandemic
Americans Embrace Family Time During the Pandemic
Heading into the wAs the coronavirus pandemic confined millions of people to their homes for weeks if not months this year, many Americans embraced the lockdown as an opportunity to spend more time with their loved ones. According to a poll conducted by Gallup in late May and early June, one third of U.S. adults saw staying home with the family as the ideal way to spend an evening back then.
Though options were admittedly limited at the time, it goes to show that not all was bad about being forced to stay at home more often than usual. During normal day-to-day life, many Americans barely see their spouses, let alone their children due to the requirements of the job, but as many worked from home during the pandemic, it gave them the chance to reconnect with their families.
The following chart shows the most popular evening activities during these extraordinary times.
