California is America’s Craft Beer Capital

California, Washington and Colorado are home to over a quarter of all permitted breweries in the United States. A craft beer craze has been sweeping across the nation over the last few years and California is its epicentre with an impressive 508 permitted breweries in 2013, up from 363 in 2012.

Washington and Colorado boast an impressive number of breweries themselves but they still trail California by a considerable distance. In 2013, Washington had 251 permitted breweries while Colorado had 217.
