2020 Election
Women Voters Favor Biden
Recent polls show an increasing lead for former Vice President Joe Biden in a general presidential election battle between President Donald Trump. According to the polls, women may be leading the way in giving Biden the edge.
In a collection recent polls from Real Clear Politics, female voters favor Biden by double digits in each of the newest polls. In the latest CNN poll, which showed a massive lead overall for Biden, 65 percent of women voters said they would vote for Biden compared to just 35 percent for Trump. Another poll, from NPR, PBS and Marist, shows a similar margin of 18 points between women voting for Biden over Trump.
For Biden’s early Democratic primary victories, analysts pointed to women voters as helping push him over the top to secure key states like Michigan. Overall, women made up 57 percent of all Democratic voters for this year’s primary voting states, and Biden has continued to hold a strong lead among Democratic women.
While many look to suburban white women as the predominant social class voting for Biden, analysis from the Brookings Institute shows women from every social and economic class are favoring Biden. Some suggest Trump’s rhetoric and demeanor are causing moderate Republican and Democratic women to turn away from him at the polls.
