How Ischgl Set Off A Coronavirus Avalanche

Known as the "Ibiza of the Alps", the Austrian ski resort of Ischgl has come under serious scrutiny as the focal point of a major coronavirus outbreak and a possible cover up. Authorities in Reykjavik warned Austrian officials that the disease was present in the town as early as March 04 after tourists returned to Iceland and tested positive in late February. It then took officials in Ischgl a further nine days to shut down the resort.

More than 5,000 ski tourists have now launched a mass lawsuit against the state of Austria as prosecutors look into possible criminal negligence. According to the Verbraucherschutzverein (Consumer Protection Association), Ischgl has likely contributed to the disease spreading in 45 countries on all continents with more than 3,500 Germans stating they believe they contracted it there.
