Which U.S. States Have Lifted COVID-19 Restrictions?

With more and more places opening up in the U.S., 22 states have already lifted almost all coronavirus restrictions, according to information published by The New York Times and Kayak. No mask mandates, no stay-at-home orders or interstate travel quarantines are in place in Florida, Texas and Georgia as well as parts of the Midwest, West and South, while businesses in these states are again almost fully opened. In the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions as well as on the West Coast, restrictions still remain in place with the exception of New Hampshire.

According to Johns Hopkins University, six out of these 22 opened-up states are currently experiencing rising case numbers again. Opened-up states where case numbers are currently growing include Georgia, South Carolina, Missouri and Indiana, but not Florida or Texas. Opened-up states which are reporting stagnating case numbers include Montana, North Dakota and Mississippi.

The states that remain under most coronavirus restriction were California and New Mexico. Kansas was also mostly opened up, but still enforces an interstate travel quarantine. All opened-up states except Louisiana have Republican governors.
