COVID-19
COVID-19: France
Global COVID-19 cases have surpassed two million, and several European countries are worldwide hotspots of the disease.
Coronavirus cases in France began to climb at the beginning of March, as other European countries also began to see substantial rises. Lockdowns in the country began a few weeks ago, and data suggests they've been relatively successful in slowing the growth of the curve. Recently, France has claimed the U.S. is hijacking hospital equipment intended for them from China. Other countries, like Canada, have made similar claims.
Total cases of COVID-19 have quickly increased in France, with a peak of 147,969 as of April 17. Daily new cases have been volatile as France seeks to properly measure each new case, with 1,909 new cases reported on April 17. The death toll in the country has risen to 18,681 as of April 17, the third-most in Europe behind Italy and Spain. Overall, the recovery rate is remaining steady at 64.7 percent of all cases in France as of April 17.
This chart will be updated daily as the coronavirus spreads.
