Who’s Hiring During COVID-19?
The COVID-19 outbreak might have put millions out of work, but it has also left grocers and those dealing in food delivery scrambling to fill positions.
According to media reports by NPR and Market Watch, retail and delivery companies are looking to fill open positions during the coronavirus pandemic. Grocery delivery company Instacart is looking to add 300,000 gig workers, while Walmart and Amazon are looking to hire 150,000 and 100,000 workers, respectively. Not the greatest prospects when considering the latter retailer already confirmed virus cases at 10 locations in the U.S. and has been criticized for its slow response.
More open positions are also posted by companies dealing in take-out food. Pizza Hut is looking to add 30,000 to their payroll, while Papa John’s Pizza said it wanted to hire 20,000 people.
