Coronavirus: Widespread Support For China Flight Ban

United Airlines has announced that it is extending its ban on flights to China and Hong Kong until April 24 amid concerns about the coronavirus. Both Delta and American Airlines have also made the decision to suspend flights until late April. A new Ipsos MORI poll has gauged attitudes about the spread of the coronavirus with a majority of people across eight major economies seeing it as a real threat to the world.

Considering those findings, it does not come as too much of a surprise that majorities in all countries surveyed also support a ban on flights to and from China. 75 percent of Australians support a flight ban, along with 68 percent in the United States and 59 percent in Germany.
