Trump Administration
Confidence in Trump is Low Internationally
As far as the rest of the world is concerned, U.S. President Donald Trump is not a great leader. 64 percent of people globally had no confidence Trump would do the right thing when it comes to world affairs, a study conducted by Pew Research Center showed. Nearly 37,000 people from 32 countries were polled from May 18 to October 2, 2019. Despite having a negative outlook on the American leader, 54 percent of people still held a favorable view of the U.S.
Trump, the third president in U.S. history to be impeached, was acquitted after he was accused of abuse of power and obstruction of justice. The Senate largely voted along party lines, with only Senator Mitt Romney voting to convict the president on abuse of power. Trump was accused of withholding nearly $400 million in military aid from Ukraine so they would investigate his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden (and his son, Hunter Biden). Trump routinely denied any wrongdoing throughout the impeachment process.
