Who are the Labour leadership frontrunners?

The search for a new Labour leader is underway after a disastrous winter election for the party brought an end to the divisive and ultimately unsuccessful Corbyn era. Not all hats have been officially thrown into the ring so far, but there is currently one clear favourite among Labour party members. According to a YouGov poll conducted at the end of the year, Shadow Brexit secretary Keir Starmer would be the first choice vote of 31 percent of members, putting him clearly ahead of second-placed Rebecca Long-Bailey on 20 percent. Head-to-head, the survey suggests Starmer would receive 61 percent of a final run-off vote against Long-Bailey.
