Trump Administration

Republicans Are More Likely to Distrust Journalists

Republicans are nearly six times more likely than Democrats to say journalist have low ethical standards, according to a new poll by Pew Research Center. That number jumps to 40 percent among Republicans who strongly agree with the job President Donald Trump is doing as Commander-in-chief.

Trump regularly accuses the media of spewing “fake news” and regularly calls out publications who don’t paint him in a favorable light. He’s coined nicknames for various media outlets, as Axios noted in 2017, referring to the New York Times as “failing” and saying the Wall Street Journal is “dying.” He said CNN stands for the “Clinton News Network,” and also called it FNN, “Fake News Network.”
