2020 Election

Bloomberg's Net Worth Eclipses 2020 Field

Michael Bloomberg’s announcement on Sunday that he would run for the Democratic nomination for president didn’t come as much of a surprise. That makes the sheer size of Bloomberg’s fortune opposite that of other 2020 candidates and the amount of money their campaigns have so far collected no less staggering.

Bloomberg, who with a fortune of more than $53 billion is one of the richest people in the world, said he would not accept any donations to his campaign – and one can see why. The entire 2020 field has so far only managed to collect around $600 million, an amount that might seem like petty cash to the former mayor of New York City.

As far as personal fortunes go – which might or might not be put towards the financing of campaigns – the 2020 field also does not have much on Bloomberg. All major candidates have a combined net worth of approximately $5 billion. Donald Trump’s estimated fortune of $3.1 billion making up more than 60 percent of that.
