Canada Is Most Comfortable With Female Leaders

When it comes to politics and business, Canadians are the most comfortable with having a woman in a leadership role, according to a survey by Kantar and the Women Political Leaders group, cited by Bloomberg on November 19. More than 22,000 people from 11 countries were surveyed. Overall, discomfort with female leadership overall was common.

In Canada, where there has only been one woman to serve as the head of government, 59% percent of all participants were “very comfortable” with women in executive roles.

Comfortability dropped in the U.S., with 54% of respondents saying they were at ease. The U.S. has never had a female president and though support for 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren is growing, her gender could make some voters concerned.

In opposition, 31% of Germans polled said they were “very comfortable” with female leadership, though German Chancellor Angela Merkel has led the country since 2005.
