UK wildlife populations have plummeted since the 1970s

A grim new report has found that a quarter of the UK's mammals and nearly half of its birds are now at risk of extinction. In total, the State of Nature report found that 15 percent of all species in the UK are currently threatened with extinction. Since 1970, wildlife populations have plummeted 41 percent while only 26 percent of species have increased their numbers. 33 percent have remained the same. Animals are also seeing much of their habitats disappear. The research also found that since 1970s, the UK's wildlife is being found in 27 percent fewer places.
