How Does Tech Help Travelers?
Most travelers feel that booking online or on an app helps them prepare for their next travel experience, according to Snow Software.
About two-thirds of travelers across the United States Europe, and Asia Pacific feel that booking travel online or through an app, saves them time. Predictably, about half said that travel tech saves them money and gives them more options. Though, some travelers went online to avoid a conversation. Thirty-six percent of travelers booked online or via an app because it spared them from having to talk to a person on the phone. Only one percent of people do not like booking travel online or via apps at all.
YouGov’s own survey of how travelers are using technology affirms what Snow Software has found. Within the booking stage of travel, laptops are the go-to tech people turn to. Nearly seven in ten respondents reported using their laptops for the planning and booking portion of their trip. Just over one in ten travelers used their smartphones for this end, pointing to the prevalence of online and app-based travel bookings.
For companies concerned with attracting users to their travel sites, having a solid website and desktop app are especially important for encouraging bookings online.
