China Is Boosting Its Ballistic Missile Inventory

A new analysis compiled by the United States Study Center at the University of Sydney, in Australia states that in a potential conflict, China could overwhelm the U.S. military in Asia in just a couple of hours. The research states that China is pulling ahead of the U.S. and its allies in a key area - missile production. The Chinese military has a formidable array of precision missiles and other counter-intervention systems to undercut American military primacy.

Many U.S. and allied operating bases in the Western Pacific are in range of Chinese missile attack and lack hardened infrastructure while forward deployed munitions and supplies are not set to wartime requirements. This infographic is based on the report's data and it shows how the Chinese People's Liberation Army more than doubled the number of missile launchers in its inventory between 2004 and 2019.
