Premier League summer spending in focus

Another summer transfer window, full of the obligatory highs, lows, surprises and disappointments, came to a close yesterday evening. With all said and done, the total Premier League spend came to £1.41 billion - just short of 2017's record cash splash. As this infographic shows, club spending is now a far cry from the £215 million of 2004 and, while the 2017 record still stands two years on, Premier League transfer budgets show no sign of dropping down below the billion mark any time soon.
