Amazon Prime Day

Brits Love Amazon

Amazon Prime Day, an annual global shopping event and marketing strategy where Amazon Prime users can benefit from online deals, is running 16-17 July. The day has been hugely successful, increasing from just $900,000 spent on merchandise in 2015 to estimates of $12.9 billion in 2023.

As the following chart shows, Amazon is well used around the world, with just over eight in ten people in the United Kingdom saying that they had bought something from the online seller in the last 12 months. The UK and Germany even surpass Amazon’s home turf of the United States in terms of popularity, based on this data. The U.S. far outshines other markets in absolute figures though. Amazon is less popular in Asia, where strong e-commerce competitors exist.
