Rapid Aging Will Become a Major Problem in East Asia
When it comes to global aging, distinct patterns are starting to manifest themselves across the world. Indeed, the global population of over 65s is expected to triple to 1.5 billion by 2050 with some of the greatest change occurring in East Asia.
Both South Korea and China are among the world’s most rapidly aging countries while Germany and Spain have some of the oldest populations today. The pace of aging is certainly most rapid in Asia where the majority of the Chinese population will be over 50 by 2050.
