More Than 100 Million Americans Will Watch Super Bowl XLVIII
TV viewership of the Super Bowl has gradually risen since 1991. Back then, 79 million people tuned in to watch the game and this figure reached almost 87 million by 2005. Since then, growth has accelerated rapidly, hitting 111 million by 2011. That represents the highest viewership of any telecast in U.S. history.
However, the Super Bowl’s TV audience declined slightly in 2013 to 108.4 million, in tune with a general fall in football viewership.
