Trump UK Visit

Brits Blast Donald Trump for Low Approval Ratings

Currently on a state visit to the UK, U.S. President Donald Trump was ridiculed by Brits who compared the current president’s low approval ratings to those of his predecessor Barack Obama, who is still very popular in the UK. Activists even projected the numbers collected by YouGov UK onto the Tower of London.

While 72 percent of Brits approved of Barack Obama in the previous year, only 21 percent approved of the current president. The comparison is equally glaring when comparing YouGov numbers of disapproval. Here, 11 percent of Brits have a negative opinion on Obama, while the same is true for 67 percent of Brits regarding Donald Trump. In 2018/19, 44 percent of Brits also still disapproved of George W. Bush.

In general, Republicans fared much worse in the UK than Democrats. Mike Pence had a positive approval of 8 percent and negative approval of 28 percent in the poll, while 19 percent thought favorably of Bernie Sanders and 13 percent disapproved of him. Both politicians were known to more than half of Brits.
