Who Conservatives want as their next leader

She's still clinging on, but it is only a matter of time before prime minister May will finally have to admit defeat and vacate her clearly untenable position at the head of the Conservative party. Despite having already promised to leave the role before the next general election, growing swathes of those in and around her party are calling for her immediate resignation as the 'Brexit shambles' continues.

Waiting in the wings are a number of Tory MPs, but according to recent polling by YouGov there is only really one contender in the eyes of Conservative Party members - the popular yet divisive proponent of a hard Brexit, Boris Johnson. As this infographic shows, the MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip would be the first choice for 39 percent of party supporters. Only former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab comes even remotely close, with a limp 13 percent.
