Six in Ten Don't Plan on Cancelling Netflix for Disney+
Six in ten current Netflix users don’t plan on cancelling their account for Disney+, according to new research from Streaming Observer. Disney pulled all its original content from the company’s platform earlier this month. About a fifth of respondents said they were planning on subscribing to both streaming services. About 12 percent of Netflix users might cancel their Netflix for Disney+ and only an additional 2 percent of people said with certainty that they will cancel Netflix.
The results come at a time of change for Netflix. Earlier this year Netflix upped the prices on all its payment options in the United States, which comes as the company’s U.S. subscriber numbers stall while international growth is taking off. Among changing user demographics, the company is also prioritizing and funding proprietary content creation.
Netflix shares are up 41 percent year to date, while Disney shares are also up this year. Netflix’s advantage come in the huge budget they have allocated for content creation. Some analysts see the increased competition in the streaming environment has a boon to the market, encouraging more people to cut the cord and turn all their entertainment dollars and time to the SVoD services.
