Population Density
Is the United States Full?
President Trump has recently said that the United States is full as a justification for closing the southern border and not accepting any migrants.
In terms of the ratio of people to space, the United States is one of the countries with the lowest population densities in the world, according to the most recent data from the World Bank. There is one square kilometer of land for every 36 people in the country. Compared to Singapore, the island small city-state, there are 7,916 people for every square kilometer of land. The United Kingdom and Germany both sport ratios on par with Nigeria and China, while Australia has an even smaller ratio of people to land, with 3 people for every square kilometer.
In line with the population density findings from the World Bank, a recent analysis from the New York Times found that nearly half of counties in the United States had prime working age populations that shrunk between 2007 and 2017.
