How Twitter's Daily Active Users Stack Up

Twitter released their daily active user numbers for the first time ever in their Q4 2018 quarterly report. The social media platform, which has taken heat for their declining monthly active user numbers, released this new metric to supplement their MAU.

While DAU projects the possibility of growth, other social media platforms have been able to far outpace Twitter. Snapchat has 60 million more daily users and Facebook tops them all, with about 1.5 billion daily active users. Snapchat and Twitter are in the same league. Two-thirds of Snapchat’s MAU also use the platform daily. For Twitter, only about 40% of their monthly users come back to the site daily. Twitter will be between their MAU and DAU as they aim to get their more infrequaiming to close the gapent users onto the platform daily.
