A short history of US trade with Turkey

U.S. President Trump has threatened to "devastate Turkey economically" if the 'hit the Kurds" in the wake of the U.S. troop withdrawal from Syria. This threat was swiftly dismissed by Turkey with the Foreign Minister, Nevlut Cavusoglu, responding: "You cannot get anywhere by threatening Turkey economically". Using US Census Bureau figures, this chart takes a look at trade between the two countries over the last ten years - a potential point of attack via sanctions, should Trump need to see through on his tweet in the future.
