32 Million People Control 41% of the World’s Wealth

This pyramid illustrates how worldwide wealth is distributed among the world’s population, from the ultra-super-rich at the peak right down to those with a wealth of under $10,000 at the base.

At the top, 32 million people control $98.7 trillion – that’s 41 percent of the world’s wealth. Those with a personal fortune of $100,000 to $1 million account can be found just underneath. They control some $101.8 trillion, representing 42.3 percent of the world’s wealth.

At the base, 3.2 billion people control a mere $7.3 trillion. This means that $68.7 percent of the world’s adult population control just 3 percent of its wealth.
