Over half of Australian renters live in homes needing repair

Across Australia, many renters are forced to live in poor quality homes that require major repairs. Domain recently published data from consumer advocacy group Choice which shows that more than half of Australian renters are faced with serious issues that require repairs.

As this week's infographic shows, renters are concerned about contacting their landlord to request repairs. This is due to several reasons such as the request being delayed or ignored, an increase in rent and even being evicted. New South Wales has the highest share of rental accommodation requiring repairs with 56 percent of respondents confirming that they are currently living in a poor quality home.
