Democrats Dominate Post-Election Day Twitter

Twitter released new data, showing which U.S. politicians were the most tweeted about in the months before the midterm election and the time after the election. From January up until the midterms, Republican politicians dominated the political conversation on Twitter, generating more mentions than Democratic politicians across the board.

Following the election, Democratic politicians unseated Republican politicians even when they lost their actual elections. While Beto O’Rourke lost his Senate race in Texas to Ted Cruz, he was mentioned and tweeted about more than Cruz in post-election conversations. President Trump remained the most tweeted about politician for both time periods analyzed.
