Espionage Is the Least Forgivable Form of Hacking

Spies beware, the masses are not sympathetic towards your cause. Blumberg Capital researched which types of cybercrimes should have the harshest penalty attached to them and found that espionage came out on top, with 44 percent of respondents citing it as the most punishable cybercrime.

Greed didn’t do well among respondents either, with three out of ten people ranking hacking for personal profit as a cybercrime that should feel the full force of the law. Hacking for a social cause or hacking for corporate profit were the two types of cybercrimes that people were the most forgiving towards.
