Apple and Samsung Dominate Smartphone Market

Apple and Samsung vie for sizeable shares of the smartphone market in key Western countries. Collectively both companies make up about half of the primary smartphone brands used in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Notably, Huawei, a Chinese brand, has been gaining popularity in Germany and France, with about 10 percent of respondents saying that Huawei is their primary smartphone.

Samsung has beat out Apple in global smartphone sales with a worldwide market share of 27 percent. Apple’s market strategy focuses on the higher end smartphone industry, while Samsung tries to cast as wide of a net as possible.
