Australia

Where e-government is most developed

Australia is one of the leading nations of the world in the provision of government services and information through the internet. This is according to the United Nation's 2018 E-Government Development Index (EGDI). Given recent high-profile IT failures including robo-debt and the most recent census, many Australians will be left scratching their heads at the second place awarded to their government in the ranking. The report highlights the establishment of Australia's Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) - which "focuses on enhancing service delivery by acting as a central repository for open government data" - as a major reason the nation scored so highly.
