Is Nigel Farage truly "skint"?

Even though Nigel Farage famously declared himself to be "skint" last year, the eurosceptic and Brexit campaigner has earned between €590,048 and €790,000 from broadcast contracts during this parliamentary term. That's according to Transparency International who have said that nearly one-third of the European Parliament's 751 members declare income from private sources and side jobs that comes on top of their monthly salary and allowances.

Excluding allowances, MEPs have a salary of €8,434 per month but they are free to engage in other work that can yield hundreds of thousands of euros. French MEP Renaud Muselier of the EPP has the highest potential earnings from side jobs which could amount to as much as €1.59 million. As well as being a politician, Muselier is also the director of a medical company. Italy's Renato Soru of S&D is the director of Tiscalli and his extra declared earnings are in the €1.55 to €1.57 million bracket.
