Roadkill

Highway to hell: Where Britons produce the most roadkill

Everybody has either seen it or smelled it while some have even produced it by themselves: roadkill. How much roadkill actually is there on Britain’s streets? After a freedom of information request, government-owned motorway maintainer Highways England released data about the piles of dead game scattered along their streets between April and December 2017. Britain’s longest road, the A1, unsurprisingly had the most animals mashed into its asphalt. However, the A419 is by far the bloodiest road in Britain with an average of 1.44 animals getting mowed down every mile.
