Facebook is Ruling The Instant Messaging Market

With at least billions of messages sent through different apps per day, instant messaging becomes the dominant form of real time peer to peer communication around the world. As this infographic shows, Facebook almost monopolized the messaging market with its two big messengers WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger accounting for 880.4 million daily active users in March 2018. Whilst WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger as well as Viber and Skype have a somewhat higher global penetration than their competitors, other apps like WeChat, Zalo or Line are almost exclusively popular within certain national, cultural or linguistic borders.
