America's Best Midsize Employers
Statista partnered with Forbes to find out which U.S. companies give their employees the very best deal. That resulted in the fourth edition of America’s Best Employers which, among large companies, was topped by French firm Michelin. The research also set out to find out America’s Best Midsize Employers, focusing on companies with between 1,000 and 5,000 employees. This year, Penguin Random House came first with a score of 9.71.
That’s quite an improvement on its position in last year’s ranking where it came in at number 33. It’s been praised by its employees for generous maternity and paternity leave as well as a solid 401K plan and decent health insurance options. Well-known sports apparel manufacturer New Balance comes second with 9.65 while Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield rounds off the top three with 9.41. The latter is notable as being the biggest newcomer among mid-sized employers in the top-10. Out of the ten highest-ranked midsize employers, nine are from the United States. Fourth-placed PLC construction is the exception and comes from Canada. The most common industries making up the top-50 best midsize employers are education, healthcare & social and tech.
