Gender pay gap? Yes, but not here

A recent poll by YouGov has shown that the majority of financial decision makers in UK companies believe that there is a gender pay gap in the country. A pretty resounding 78 percent of respondents said that they think there is a gap in favour of men in the UK, with 13 percent saying there is none. Where things change though, is when thinking about their own company.

When asked if they felt a male-friendly pay gap existed in their company, a drastically lower 21 percent said that this was an issue where they work. As of 5 April this year, all private companies with 250 employees or more are obliged to disclose their gender pay gap data every year. As noted by YouGov, judging by this survey, a number of executives could be in for a shock when their HR department pulls together the figures.
