The NRA's Lobbying Power

The National Rifle Association (NRA) is one of the best-known lobbying groups in the United States for its efforts in convincing lawmakers of the benefits of liberal gun laws. Data collected by the Center for Responsive Politics shows that even with self-professed pro-gun rights President Donald Trump in office, the NRA has spent liberally on lobbying its cause. While in 2016 the association spent $3.19 million, expenditure was $5.08 million in 2018, slightly lower than the record $5.12 million in 2017. That figure fell back to pre-Trump levels in 2019 but still remains above the $3 million mark.
