Valentine's Day in Germany

What Valentine's Day gifts do people buy in Germany?

According to a new Statista survey, Germans are taking Valentine's Day seriously. Even though it's often dismissed as a fabricated American event that exists to benefit the flower and card industries, German's actually tend to splash the cash on February 14th. The survey found that most people across Europe's largest economy spend at least some money on gifts with 46 percent of respondents planning over €30, 13 percent budgeting up to €30 and 11 percent ready to part with €20.

48 percent will buy flowers, the same share who will buy chocolates or pralines. 31 percent of people in Germany will give a restaurant visit as a gift while 18 percent are ready to show their creative side by giving their beloved a self-made gift, whether it's crafted, cooked or baked. Jewellery is further down the list with only 14 percent of people planning to give it as a gift. Read more on TheLocal.de.
