This Time Last Season in the Premier League

This time last season in the Premier League, Man City were also at the top of the table, but as our infographic shows, were in a far more comfortable position than they are currently, with an in-form Liverpool breathing down their neck. Last season, although Liverpool ended up putting a string of results together to finish third, going into the last few games it was Manchester United that were City's closest challengers.

How things have changed at Old Trafford since though. Having sacked club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær in November, interim manager Ralf Rangnick has failed to turn around the fortunes of the side. United Are currently in place six - down four spots from this time last season - with Champions League football next season still a mathematical possibility, but nothing more than that on current form.

There are a lot of stories in this infographic, but another of the most intriguing is the change in fortunes (literally) of Newcastle. Since the club was sold by Mike Ashley to a heavily Saudi-influenced consortium in October, new head coach Eddie Howe has steered the side to tenth - six places higher than this time last season. The Magpies were languishing in 19th when the former Bournemouth manager took over in November.
