Star Wars

If the Millennium Falcon was a car...

In the Star Wars universe the normal risk of traffic accidents can be neglected. Space battles more than make up for this though. So how much insurance would Darth Vader have to pay for the enormous Tie Fighter Fleet on the Death Star? And how many goods would Han Solo have to smuggle to pay the bill for the Millennium Falcon's insurance policy?

British website InsuretheGap.com made some calculations on this matter and our chart shows: Many Star Wars spaceships come with a hefty price tag. For your car insurance you will have to come up with a few hundred pounds a year, depending on the model and age of your car and where you live, obviously. To be a Star Wars space traveller you will have to multiply this by at least a thousand.

Another insight: Just like with cars, heavy and powerful models are more expensive. To our best knowledge here at Statista the cost of insurance is not mentioned in any of the Star Wars movies. Maybe they just don't do it because many spaceships don't remain intact for too long anyways.
