1 in 4 Americans Use a Smartphone to Access Online News

Online news access by smartphone or tablet is becoming more and more popular in the United States. Meanwhile, one in four Americans uses a smartphone to access online news and 16 percent consume news via tablet. This is one result of the Digital News Report, published by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism last week.

The report examines various aspects of news consumption across different markets, and contains a mixed bag of results for the struggling newspaper industry. The research was conducted at the end of January/beginning of February 2013.
