Natural Disasters

The Toll from Harvey So Far

Hurricane Harvey is receding. It wasn't the high winds that caused the most damage but the torrential rainfalls, which flooded large parts of Texas and inundated Houston. According to various media reports, 30,000 people were expected to be forced from their homes, with an estimated 13,000 people rescued in the Houston area alone.

The death toll had climbed to 44, according to latest reports. All numbers are estimates and subject to constant correction. The total fallout, also the estimated damages, won't be totaled until well after the storm and the water has receded.
