Banking is the Place to Be in the UK
While it is no secret that working in London’s financial hub will most probably reward you with a lucrative wage packet, the salary comparison website Emolument has recently listed the best- and worst-paid jobs in the UK’s finance sector. Accordingly, professionals in the M&A or trading business earn the highest salaries and bonuses, totalling £308,000 and £295,000 respectively. That means investment banks still pay the most, despite regulatory bonus cuts in the wake of the financial crisis.
Earning a mere half or even third of M&A bankers, rating agencies or middle & back office workers tend to land the worst salaries and bonuses in the finance industry. Nevertheless, it still places them among the UK 's top 2% earners.
